Embedded motion controller
Phillips Medical, a major manufacturer of CAT scanners, came to Rigaku with a problem: the motion control chipset for its CAT scanner had become obsolete. Without the old motion controller—or even a source for parts—the company had to re-engineer the scanner for a new type of motion control system. That would mean major engineering changes, including revalidating their system with the FDA.
The company wanted to figure out how to make this change without changing the software. If the software did not change, they would not have to go through FDA revalidation.
The solution: new chipset circuits designed with an onboard software translator, linking the existing interface to the new motion controller. No revalidation, no re-training users on a new interface.
Our engineers not only designed the solution, they made the system perform better, producing clearer images. Just one example of how our engineers don't just meet client expectations—they exceed them.
