Our X-stream 2000 low-temperature system has been critical for our X-ray facility's productivity because we don't have to rely on liquid nitrogen delivery to our tropical island.

X-stream™ 2000 low temperature system

Not all low temperature systems are created equal. The revolutionary X-stream 2000 low temperature system is the only system designed to operate at liquid nitrogen temperatures without using liquid nitrogen. It allows users to do away with the headaches and safety issues associated with handling and storing tanks of liquid nitrogen as a means of cooling their crystallographic samples. In addition, for today's high-throughput laboratories, using the X-stream means there is no wasted time performing the mundane task of refilling a dewar.

The innovative design of the X-stream 2000 addresses the biggest issue affecting cryo-crystallography: icing on crystals. By significantly improving the laminar flow of the cold stream, crystal icing is greatly reduced. Laminar flow has been improved by removing the turbulence that is introduced through a physical juncture of an outer warm stream and inner cold stream. In the X-stream 2000, the protective warm stream is created by heating the outer part of the cold stream and thus eliminating the need for a separate physical warm stream nozzle. This heater is an integral part of the nozzle assembly and not an additional add on section of hardware.

The optional positioning bracket for the nozzle offers the flexibility to deliver the cold nitrogen stream to the crystal in nearly any orientation from vertical to horizontal.

The true advantage of the X-stream 2000, as most users quickly discover, is the ability to work at liquid nitrogen temperatures for extended periods of time at the push of a button.
