New XRF & XRD at Pittcon 2005

Debut of Advanced "Tube Above" ZSX Primus II WD-XRF with Mapping

The Woodlands, TX — February 28, 2005.  Rigaku is pleased to announce its attendance at the 55th annual Pittsburgh Conference (Pittcon) from March 1 through March 4, 2005 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. Rigaku will be exhibiting its advanced lines of X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) instrumentation at Booth #1345. The 600 square foot island exhibit will be debuting two new wavelength dispersive XRF instruments, the ZSXmini II and the ZSX Primus II, as well as showcasing two powerful XRD products, the high-value MiniFlex and the new leading edge Ultima III.

First shown at the Denver X-ray Conference in the summer of 2003, the Ultima III adds SAXS and in-plane measurement capabilities as options for the standard θ:θ instrument. Thus, no longer does a laboratory need to purchase two instruments or venture to the synchrotron for these measurements. The revolutionary new combined optical system of the Ultima III, the Cross Beam Optics (CBO), gives both focusing and parallel beam in one module. With a quick flip of a slit, the two optical configurations are switched—no hardware to exchange and no realignment. The Ultima III will be shown as a mock-up enclosure incorporating a wide-screen movie demo. Also shown will be the best selling Rigaku MiniFlex, the unsurpassed value in XRD available today. The MiniFlex has proven over and over that a powerful XRD can be designed into a small and affordable package. Finally, Rigaku's XRD group will be demonstrating the newest release of Jade software, Version 7.1. Jade, the industry standard in powder diffraction analytical software, has evolved into a wide-ranging tool that continues to impress devotees and competitors alike with its ease of use and sophisticated range of features.

The Rigaku XRF production group will make a splash with the formal introduction of two new instruments: the performance leading ZSX Primus II and the world's only benchtop WD-XRF, the ZSXmini II. The newest member of the ZSX family of spectrometers, the ZSX Primus II, is a 4 kW WDXRF spectrometer with the thinnest end-window tube (30 micron) available in the industry, with the analytical capability for Be4 - U92. Incorporating advanced "tube above" (inverted) optics, together with small spot and mapping capability, makes the ZSX Primus II the most powerful sequential WD-XRF instrument in the world. Also shown is the new ZSXmini II, a compact sequential WD-XRD that is a costeffective and superior alternative to energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence technology. Finally, the Mini Z Sulfur Analyzer—introduced at Pittcon last year—represents the first in a series of WD-XRF "Mini's" that feature low power (50 watt) in a benchtop form factor for analysis of S in hydrocarbons (gas/diesel) down to 0.3 ppm. All three instruments will be shown.
