We realize that standard systems may not fit the needs for every lab, so we also offer XtaLAB Synergy Custom single crystal X-ray diffractometers for those labs who want to take advantage of dual ports or want to integrate special components, such as ACTOR sample changers. HPC detector

XtaLAB Synergy Custom systems are configured with a Hybrid Photon Counting (HPC) X-ray detector, such as the HyPix-6000HE, PILATUS or EIGER. HPC detectors are ideal for macromolecular crystallography experiments because they are photon counting detectors that directly detect X-ray photons without the need the intermediate step of converting X-ray photons to light with a phosphor, because they have high dynamic range and fast readout speed, and because they have extremely low noise. Additionally, HPC X-ray detectors have an ideal point spread function of a single pixel. These combined features, along with shutterless data collection, means that you can collect more accurate diffraction data, faster. As a result, the XtaLAB Synergy Custom systems offer outstanding performance for macromolecular single crystal X-ray diffraction experiments.

Dual Port Capability

The XtaLAB Synergy Custom system includes a dual port, microfocus rotating anode X-ray generator. With XtaLAB Synergy Custom systems, you can configure to have dual single crystal ports or you can configure the second port with a small angle X-ray scattering system, such as the BioSAXS-2000. Additionally, the XtaLAB Synergy Custom comes in a custom designed enclosure with your choice of table size, to accommodate any accessory equipment, such as an ACTOR system or microscope close to the goniometer. Thus, the versatility offered by the XtaLAB Synergy Custom system provides the most flexibility possible for your structural biology program.

HyPix-6000HE: Hybrid photon counting X-ray detector

Rigaku Oxford Diffraction now offers the HyPix-6000HE Hybrid Photon Counting (HPC) X-ray detector. Like all HPCs, the HyPix-6000HE offers direct X-ray photon counting, single pixel point spread function and extremely low noise. The HyPix-6000HE HPC offers a small pixel size of 100 microns, which allows you to better resolve reflections for long unit cells as well as improving reflection profile analysis. The HyPix-6000HE has a high frame rate of 100 Hz, as well as a unique Zero Dead Time mode providing the ultimate in error-free shutterless data collection.

PILATUS3 R 200K: Low maintenance, direct photon counting X-ray detector

The PILATUS3 R 200K is a hybrid photon counting (HPC) X-ray detector designed to achieve the best possible data quality for diffraction experiments. HPC detectors are direct-detection, single-photon counting devices that have essentially no noise and high sensitivity. Moreover, the high dynamic range excellent DQE characteristics for the PILATUS3 R 200K means that they it is well suited for accurately measuring weak reflections alongside very strong reflections - overload corrections and separate scans for weak and strong data are not necessary. The readout time for the PILATUS3 R 200K is 7 msec readout speed, making it capable of true shutterless data collection, thus removing errors associated with shutter open/close and goniometer start/stop events. EIGER R 4M: Large format HPC detector

The EIGER R 4M is a new generation of hybrid photon counting (HPC) detector that combines exceptional data collection efficiency and resolving power with an active area rivaling that of CCDs and imaging plate detectors. HPC detectors are direct-detection, single-photon counting devices that have essentially no noise and high sensitivity. The EIGER R series is the latest generation of HPC detectors that feature auto-summation, which extends their digital counting ability up to 32-bits, or more than 4.2 billion counts, per pixel. Moreover, the EIGER R 4M delivers these high count rates with continuous readout, achieving duty cycles greater than 99%. The EIGER R 4M detector have small (75 μm) pixels with a single pixel point spread function to provide superior resolving power for reflections from samples with long unit cells, like macromolecules. In general, one can collect at sample-to-detector distances that are 20 - 30% shorter than those used for CCDs or PILATUS detectors. PlateMate

The Rigaku PlateMate is a simple, inexpensive tool for rapid screening of crystals within crystallization plates. The PlateMate supports several different SBS format crystallization plates, though best results are observed using X-ray compatible plates. The PlateMate is quickly installed on Rigaku 4-circle AFC11 partial chi and non-inverted phi goniometers by virtue of the standard IUCr goniometer mount fitting.

(Requires partial chi option for CCD and PILATUS systems. IP systems may require a camera repositioning kit to modify camera angle for proper viewing of crystallization wells)

The XtalCheck system includes software that facilitates both visual and diffraction imaging of crystallization experiments. With the XtalCheck system, one can easily survey many crystallization experiments by eliminating the need to harvest and cryo-cool samples. Moreover, one can perform serial crystallography experiments, by collecting data from multiple crystals, to achieve complete data sets that can be used for structure solution.

EZ Aligner

The EZ Aligner tool allows for safe and remote alignment for VariMax or OptiSAXS optics. As the name implies, the EZ Aligner makes optimization of beam intensities an easy task. Simply set up your pin diode and pinhole, then use the EZ Aligner remote to optimize the beam from a safe place outside the radiation enclosure. Each EZ Aligner remote produces a radio signal strong enough to penetrate enclosure material or from another room. The EZ Aligner kit includes a remote control that communicates to 4 motors attached to optic micrometers to adjust optic rotation and translation.

Automatic Crystal Screening

At the heart of CrysAlisPro are the automatic crystal screening, data collection and strategy modules. For a typical crystal, a short pre-experiment lasting less than five minutes is recorded to evaluate crystal quality. From the first frame, CrysAlisPro automatically evaluates the crystal quality and provides the user with information regarding the unit cell, intensity estimation by resolution range and suggested frame exposure times for the full data collection.

Software Compatibility
Use CrysAlisPro to import and process diffraction data from synchrotrons and other detector formats. No extra licenses are required. Data files are also easily exported for use in third party data reduction packages including d*TREK, MOSFLM, DENZO and XDS. Reduced data sets can be output in mtz or other data formats for structure solution using other data packages.
