US EPA Tier 3 Gasoline

Compliance with the U.S. EPA Tier 3 Gasoline PBMS testing protocol and performance is demonstrated.

application

Background

In 2016 the U.S. EPA began the phasing in of Tier 3 gasoline, mandating the maximum allowable sulfur in gasoline to be 10 ppm (10 mg/kg). To this end the EPA has established PBMS (performance-based testing requirement) similar to those for ULSD. The EPA allows any testing method that can comply with the performance guidelines for accuracy and precision. To meet these needs Applied Rigaku Technologies offers NEX CG monochromatic EDXRF using Cartesian Geometry polarization. Ideal for ultra-sulfur measurements such as Tier 3 gasoline and ULSD, NEX CG is a multi-element analyzer capable of also measuring other applications throughout the petroleum industry. Powerful yet simple and intuitive to operate, the NEX CG is an excellent tool for down-stream analyses as well as mid-stream and upstream.

NEX CGRigaku NEX CG delivers rapid qualitative and quantitative determination of major and minor atomic elements in a wide variety of sample types — with minimal standards. Unlike conventional EDXRF analyzers, the NEX CG was engineered with a unique close-coupled Cartesian Geometry (CG) optical kernel that dramatically increases signal-to-noise.
