The Power of Synergy

Absolute structure determination of hydrocarbons
Determination of the absolute structure of a molecule composed solely of hydrocarbons was difficult even with the use of a Cu source. The newly developed Hybrid Photon Counting (HPC) detector HyPix-6000HE, with a measurement schedule optimized with CrysAlisPro, allows the absolute structure to be deduced more easily.
Built-in functions for high-pressure experiments
High-pressure SCX is no longer a patent of the mature experts! CrysAlisPro has a built-in program for high-pressure experiments using DAC that proposes the best collection schedule. In addition, CrysAlisPro provides various supporting functions including a diffraction visualizer for DAC and an omitting tool for unnecessary peaks.
Capturing the structure of mixed valence states
Capability of condensation through hydrogen bonds were introduced to redox-active double-decker platinum complexes. As a result, mixed valence states, that is mixture of di- and tri-valent states, appeared due to intra- and intermolecular Pt⋯Pt interactions. The color of the solution can precisely be controlled from orange, blue, pink and yellow while luminescence is simultaneously turned on and off by redox.
Determining chirality of a carbohydrate with Mo radiation
The combination of the optimized data collection strategy of CrysAlisPro and the latest algorithm making best use of the anomalous signal in SHELXL enables absolute structure determination of compound consisting of light atoms alone.
Elemental analysis attachment for single crystals:Element Analyzer
The ELement ANalyzer is a state-of- the-art attachment that allows us to obtain qualitative information on elements in a single crystal at the same time as X-ray diffraction data collection for a single crystal structural analysis. By measuring the X-ray fluorescence spectrum emitted during X-ray diffraction experiments with the ELement ANalyzer, it becomes possible to perform elemental analysis on a single grain of crystal.

Data was collected using the XtaLAB mini single crys

From the automated structure determination plugin AutoChem
When it is online mode, Autochem processes fully automatic structure determination and refinement during data collection. It automatically processes every 25 frames and it reduces data, updates files *.hkl, *.ins and *.cif_od and determine and refine a structure. Users can confirm the results of structre determination even during data collection.
High Pressure Measurement of Piezochromic Luminescent Crystal
The distinct piezochromic luminescent responses of charge-transfer inclusion crystals, which consist of small aromatic guest molecules with naphthalenediimide derivatives, are reported. Reversible multichromism is observed over the entire visible region in response to high pressure, whereas a weak response to mechanical grinding is evident.
Structure analysis of odor compounds by the crystalline sponge method
Odor-causing substances have been unfavorable targets for crystallographic analysis because they are usually volatile liquid or gas compounds, scarce amount of which can often be isolated from natural sources. Inclusion into a single crystal of porous coordination polymer “Crystalline Sponge” via vapor diffusion facilitates a single crystal in which the odor compound is regularly ordered, and enables its crystallographic structure analysis.
Structure determination of extremely small crystals
Micro crystals are no longer dedicated targets for synchrotron facilities. Rigaku provides the most advanced “in-house” system with powerful X-ray source, genuine detector and intelligent software.
The structure determination of a giant supramolecular host-guest complex
The structure of a giant supramolecular host-guest complex can be determined as if it is a usual small molecule. The complex presented here gives weak diffraction in the high angle region due to its disordered side chains and crystallization solvents. However, a noiseless, high dynamic range detector, HyPix-6000HE, affords excellent diffraction data in the whole observation range.
Three-dimensional preferred orientation in uniaxially oriented polymer films
Polymer films such as polypropylene and polyethylene are drawn in molding while heating to increase physical strength. Since the crystal components in the film are oriented in a specific direction as the film is drawn, it is difficult to obtain sufficient information only by reflection method like a powder diffraction. It is efficient to perform omnidirectional measurement by transmission method using single crystal X-ray diffractometers to analyse in three dimensions which types of orientations exist in the whole sample.
Unconventional fast data collection in shutterless mode
The newly developed HPC detector HyPix-6000 is equipped with a real shutterless mode. This mode reduces total data collection time, as well as screening time. In addition to the detector, the PhotonJet-R which has a microfocus rotating anode and confocal optics, making a super-bright X-ray beam to enable data collection in short exposure times. Furthermore, CrysAlisPro has an accurate strategy calculation tool that provides efficient data collection schedules to achieve the ideal results for each sample. The extremely high performance hardware and software accelerates your research.
Validation of solid state CD spectroscopy
The configuration of the molecules in the crystal can be accurately determined by single crystal X-ray structural analysis (SCX), and it can be judged from which configuration the waveform obtained from the solid-CD spectrum is attributed.
