Ion Exchange Membrane for PEFC
The structure of an ion exchange membrane for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) was studied using a NANOViewer and a Mettler hot stage.

The 1st and 2nd peaks come from the branched chains and inverted micelle (mainly water), respectively. This result of microscopic structure study indicates that the structure at 80°C is ideal. |
The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd peaks come from the periodic structure. The peak broadening of "wet" indicates disordering of the structure. This result of macroscopic structure indicates that the periodic structure shows disordering in humid environment. |
