Symmetric and asymmetric dithiophosphinic acids for minor actinide extraction

This SCXmini structure was synthesized by John R. Klaehn at the Idaho National Laboratory and presented at the ACS National Meeting in Boston in late August, 2007. The astonishing finding about this material is that it selectively extracts trivalent actinides from lanthanides at higher acidities with separation factors of over 100,000 at low pH.
