The petroleum industry is subject to many regulations with respect to
the chemical formulations of its products.
The monitoring of sulfur in virtually all of it's products is mandatory. Sulfur in petroleum products that are used in combustion
processes is the major contributor to the air pollution such as nitrous oxide formation, smog and acid rain.
To help contain the costs of the testing required Rigaku is pleased to announce the Micro Z Sulfur.
This compact, benchtop wavelength dispersive XRF system is designed to deliver accurate, precise sulfur analysis for all classes of petroleum
products from crude oil to aviation gas.
The ability to carry out both peak and background measurements allows it to deliver ASTM 2622-08 compliant results.
Its easy-to-use interface makes it ideal for use by non-technical operators and
its built in analysis protocol makes validation and quality control of the instruments results seamless for QA personnel.
Its robust design makes it suitable for use in process locations, where maximum benefit can be derived from knowing the sulfur content.
It can also be used at blending stations and truck loading stations to verify sulfur content for product chain of custody verification
requirements.
The Micro-Z sulfur, when loaded with Petro Pak, will cover sulfur concentrations from 0 - 5 mass % in three ranges per ASTM 2622 specification and can measure sulfur in ULSD, all classes of gasoline, aviation gasoline, jet fuel, high sulfur diesel, residual fuel oil, bitumen, asphalt and pet coke
