Background

Rigaku Oxford Diffraction's popular home lab Small Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS) system is a two-dimensional Kratky camera called the BioSAXS-2000. The BioSAXS-2000 includes a double-bounce confocal optic with a large capture angle and thus provides more flux at the sample position, which means better signal to noise and faster experiments. Unlike other Kratky systems that use line focus sources, the BioSAXS-2000 uses a point focus source and confocal optic with the focal point of the optic at the surface of the detector so that data do not require any desmearing. The BioSAXS-2000 now features the Rigaku HyPix-3000 hybrid pixel array detector with 100 x 100 μm2 pixels (40% smaller than the PILATUS 3R 100K) for better spatial resolution in SAXS profiles. All together, these features lead to high quality SAXS data from the BioSAXS-2000.
