Capturing the structure of mixed valence states

Capability of condensation through hydrogen bonds were introduced to redox-active double-decker platinum complexes. As a result, mixed valence states, that is mixture of di- and tri-valent states, appeared due to intra- and intermolecular Pt⋯Pt interactions. The color of the solution can precisely be controlled from orange, blue, pink and yellow while luminescence is simultaneously turned on and off by redox.

Capability of condensation through hydrogen bonds wasintroduced to redox-active double-decker platinum complexes. As a result, mixed valence states, conjugation of di- and tri-valent states, appeared due to intra- and intermolecular Pt⋯Pt interactions. The color of the solution can be controlled precisely from orange, blue, pink and yellow while luminescence is simultaneously turned on and off by redox as well.
