Manufacturing Technician (Auburn Hills, MI)

POSITION: Manufacturing Technician
Reports To: Operations Manager and other Managers or Supervisors as assigned

Job Description:
Works from job orders, engineering drawings and notes, sketches, and verbal instructions Assembles mechanical and electrical components on the bench and under a microscope. Troubleshoots and repairs components after return from the field.

Duties include the following Responsibilities:

  • Assemble electrical and electro-mechanical components on the bench and under a microscope
  • Assemble mechanical components based on a variety of information resources
  • Troubleshoot and repair returned components
  • Maintains documentation of key processes to complete assembly records.
  • Help identify and solve manufacturing issues in the assembly areas.
  • Assist in the development and editing of product manuals/documentation.
  • Final assembly testing.
  • Integration of discreet electronic modules.
  • Assist in confirmation of packing lists, packing and crating.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness in the lab areas.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor

Education:

  • Associates degree in electronics, electro-mechanical engineering, electro-optics or equivalent experience.

Key Knowledge/Experience:

  • Good mechanical and electrical abilities with attention to details.
  • Able to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and electro-mechanical components
  • Able to do fine assembly under a microscope
  • Ability to understand engineering documentation and work closely with engineering and other manufacturing areas.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work productively with MS Office.

Desirable Knowledge/Experience:

  • Direct experience in electro-mechanical assembly technology.
  • Previous experience with Unigraphics and/or BOM documentation.
  • Knowledge of PC software administration (deep into Windows); ability to troubleshoot PC communications.
  • Familiarity with machine shop capabilities
  • Familiarity with electrical systems/electronics
