Rigaku e-learning

Brief overview

Since its inception in 1951, Rigaku has been at the forefront of analytical and industrial instrumentation technology in the fields of general X-ray diffraction and X-ray fluorescence spectrometry etc. In addition to supplying analysis devices, we also provide training on how to use these instruments and master the analytical techniques.

Users can study anywhere and at any time using an internet browser on a PC. A training course consists of easy-to-follow slides, narrations, voice texts and quizzes that the user can study thoroughly. Furthermore, users can repeat the training course throughout the contract period.

Recommended participants

Rigaku’s training courses provide principles of measurement at a basic level. They are recommended for customers who are not familiar with the measurement technique. These include:

  • People who use an analytical instrument but have difficulty finding time to study the scientific principles behind them.
  • People who once studied the principles but have forgotten many details and need a refresher course.
  • Beginning users who have had no previous training.
  • People who have taken the training course before but want to brush up on certain details.

Training courses of Rigaku e-learning

English and Japanese versions, including slides and narration, are provided for each course.

Abstract of XRD training courses Amount for 180 days
X-ray analysis is one of the key tools for analyzing all kinds of matter in non-destructive way - ranging from liquids to solids - and is essential for material characterization and quality control in research, engineering, and manufacturing. In this course, starting from what X-rays are, you will learn the crystal system, Miller index, the principle and application of the powder X-ray diffraction measurement, and how to configure and use general X-ray diffractometers (XRD). (US) $250
Powder XRD can readily measure powder and bulk samples when sample preparation and measurement conditions are properly setup. Analytical chemistry consists of quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis, techniques which focus on identifying components and elements and identifying a sample’s phase status. In this training course, you will learn the appropriate measurement conditions and analysis techniques for performing qualitative analysis using powder XRD. (US) $250
Material science research covers a wide range of sample types, from powder and liquids to nanomaterials and thin films. Utilizing XRD techniques one can identify a material’s components, perform quantitative analysis, determine crystallite size and crystallinity, measure residual stress and preferred orientation in manufactured materials, and determine density and crystal quality for thin films. In this course, you will be introduced to the various sample evaluation methods using XRD. (US) $250
Abstract of SCX training course Amount for 180 days
Single crystal X-ray structure analysis is an indispensable analytical technique that is used not only to determine the three-dimensional structure of novel compounds, but also to understand and utilize their functions. In this course, you will learn the principles of single crystal X-ray structure analysis and the procedures for growing crystals, measuring X-ray diffraction data and solving a structure, using a small organic compound as a target material. This course is aimed to provide practical knowledge on how to perform X-ray crystallography experiments, so the key technical points of single crystal X-ray structure analysis will be described in detail.*

* Please note that CrysAlisPro, our user-inspired data collection and data processing software, and Olex2, a complete structure solution, refinement and analysis program, are used to describe the use of software in this course.
(US) $250
Abstract of XRF training courses Amount

X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis is a non-destructive method of elemental analysis to observe what elements are present in a sample and to determine their concentrations. In this course, the principles of XRF and the configuration of the spectrometer are explained by using an example of a sequential-type instrument. In addition, settings and analysis methods for qualitative and quantitative analysis, evaluation of results of quantitative analysis, an overview of the fundamental parameter (FP) method and an overview of sample preparation are introduced.

(US) $250 (for 180 days)

This is an expansion course of JHFE001 Fundamentals of X-ray fluorescence spectrometry. The XRF method is a versatile analytical technique and gives high precision and high accuracy results. Especially, Quantitative analysis results are one of the most useful elemental quantification methods. This training course is learning tor make quant application operation using the Training Standard PAK samples. When you apply this course, the Training Standard PAK samples are borrowed from Rigaku or distributors. Please wait to start it until you receive the standard sample PAK.

* The shipping cost of sending and returning the pack samples will be charged separately.
* Depending on the availability of the training standard PAK, you may have to wait several months for the standard delivery.

(US) $100* (for 90 days)
