Associate Software Engineer (Wilmington, MA)

DIVISION:                      Rigaku Analytical Devices (Wilmington, MA)

POSITION:                    Associate Software Engineer

REPORTS TO:              Director of Engineering               

Job Summary:

The Associate Software Engineer's main function will write complex applications for handheld analyzers. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain existing code base and implement new features.
  • Interview internal customers to develop application requirements.
  • Understand and follow existing programming architecture.
  • Design and develop complex applications using object-oriented design and Agile development methods.
  • Learn and follow validation methods including authoring all necessary documents.
  • Learn the product development lifecycle and the impact on building production quality source code.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience or knowledge of development using Agile software development methodologies.
  • Familiar with Software Source Control packages & Software Development and Collaboration tools. 
  • Experience developing software in a Linux environment.
  • Proficient with software engineering tools and applications.
  • Experience with QT, with GUI development in QML.
  • Experience with JSON or XML.
  • Linux kernel compilation Some Python experience.
  • Web development using web sockets, PHP, other.
  • Basic Knowledge of the design and optimization of databases. 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field of study.
  • 2+ years of experience with C/C++ language programming either in academia or industry standard.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
