Crystal structure analysis of ionic liquid

A crystal of ionic liquid was grown on a sample mounting tool starting from the liquid state at room temperature by controlling the temperature with a low temperature nitrogen streaming system. Flash cooling affords amorphous solid, whereas gradual cooling grows multicrystals. By repeating the two methods alternately, a single crystal suitable for X-ray analysis was grown.
