To reveal catalytic reaction mechanism!
Structure determination of an Ag cluster-POM composite catalyst

Metal or metal oxide clusters are recently attracting great attention as catalysts due to their high specific surface area and unique reactivity. The nature and reactivity of the metal clusters dramatically changes depending on their molecular and/or electronic structure. Single crystal X-ray (SCX) analysis is the most reliable method to reveal the molecular structure of the metal clusters. We confirmed structure transformation of an Ag cluster-polyoxometalate (POM) composite catalyst under catalytic reaction conditions by SCX analysis using Rigaku XtaLAB Synergy-R diffractometer, and contributed assumption of the catalytic reaction mechanism.
