Wastewater, soils and sediments to RoHS
From monitoring of contaminated sediments and soils, to the determination of toxic metals in air and water and the classification of materials for later recycling and disposal, wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence (WDXRF) is an analytical technique of choice. Characterization and remediation of contaminated soil sites requires quick and reliable assays. Approved as a technique by the U.S. EPA, XRF is routinely employed to determine heavy metal concentrations (RCRA metals) in soils and sediments. New European Union (EC) environmental legislation, referred to as RoHS/WEEE, will have significant implications for many manufacturing companies in terms of marketing, design, manufacturing and "end-of-life" recovery and recycling. XRF analysis can help manufacturers comply with RoHS/WEEE by providing rapid non-destructive elemental analysis. Rigaku technology and expertise provide a number of unique solutions for these determinations.
